mark211Who would you like to cast in a filmed version of one of your own stories?2017-03-05 01:58:32
mark211Everyone here on QM has written something - some of us, in fact, have written quite extensively (me, not so much, but others, absolutely). Although writing and film are quite different genres, I thought it might be fun for people to: (a) remind us a story you have posted here on QM; (b) tell us who you think would be great in the role of your main characters in that story. Alternatively, you could mention an actor/actress you think would be great for another writer's story here on QM.2017-03-05 02:01:30
mark211So, people - let the central casting part of your mind run wild!2017-03-05 02:01:48
GordonRowlinsonOK...I have a story this month in the QM called the Zombie Virus Apocalypse that has three characters, Dr Blotzmann, a nerdy researcher, Dr. Curran, an attractive middle age female researcher, and Dr Chan, a Chinese-American researcher. For Blotzmann, I pick Roddy McDowell, who was really good in Planet of the Apes or Brent Spiner who was really good in Independence Day. For Dr. Curran, I pick Natale Wood who was really good in Brainstorm. Unfortunately Wood is dead so I have to invent a time machine to go back and save her life and bring her to 2017. If I save her life, she may agree to do my movie for half her usual price. For Dr Chan, I pick George Takei or Jackie Chan. If the movie producers go with Jackie Chan I guess I can write a new scene in the script where he beats up some zombies with his advanced Karate techniques.2017-03-05 10:23:08

As I've read that story, I would go for Brent Spiner over Roddy McDowell - McDowell's a fantastic actor, but he just feels so ... 1960s to me, he would look out of place, I think. I had to Google Natalie Wood - but yes, can totally see that.2017-03-05 11:37:15
mark211OK, so for my "Adriano's evening with the Sorcerer of the Western Hills" I think I would have to go with Jim Carter as the Sorcerer of the Western Hills (e.g. here http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/12/01/article-2516449-19C2041000000578-981_638x455.jpg), and for Adriano ... hmm, Nicholas Hoult - but with blonde hair (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/7e/24/3e/7e243eb683292e0cf9fd75d23465ba9c.jpg). This is surprisingly more fun doing this than I'd thought ...2017-03-05 11:46:00
micheledutcherI wrote the description of William in my book Heaven's Gate to reflect Johnny Depp. The character himself was written with a local conman in mind, but I used the idea of how Johnny Depp would move and handle himself as a basis for the personality of the character. So, JD as William, definitely. 2017-03-09 07:17:31
