Targets at 3 O'Clock
by Jason Heslip

“We have targets coming in at 3 o’clock.”

“What’s the distance, Petey?”

“Twenty meters and closing, Rob.”

“Ten meters and closing.”

“Prepare to fire.”

“Roger that,” Petey said as he began to line up his shot.

“Fire in 5…4…3…2…1…0, drop ‘em!” Rob yelled to his friend.

“Bombs away!”

The sounds of screaming children filled the air, piercing Petey and Rob’s ears. They told them that they were on target.

“Stupid birds!” a girl screeched.

“My new dress!” another girl yelled.

The sound of rocks whizzing past their heads told them they had been spotted. That was their cue to leave. Within a few seconds they both started flapping their wings, laughing at the chaos they had stirred up. The duo then took off for the Henderson’s bird feeder to prepare for the next assault on the human population.
