I live in 1969, and believe that Science Fiction takes itself far too seriously, most of the time. Yes, I enjoy my Wells, Orwell, and Clarke. However, life is too serious, so I enjoy my Adams, Dwarf, Holt, and Wodehouse, as a Yang to the Yin of Pournelle, Dick, Niven. So writing about a world that hasn't come from the perspective of a world that's been and gone, only makes it ahead of its time :)
